    Chartered Civil Engineer (FICE), with more than 35 years in the engineering & construction industry with core skills in Project Management, Contract Management, and Programme Management. Professional experience in Asia, Middle East, Australia, Hong Kong and UK.  At CH2M, Greg successfully ran business operations across 8 countries in the Middle East with a portfolio of 800+ projects; and responsibility for time and security critical contracts for the London Olympics and the Qatar FIFA World Cup infrastructure.

    An Environmental Engineer with a Master of Engineering in Water Treatment and Desalination, and a passion for developing and delivering sustainable water systems. Rhys brings experience in design, asset planning and management, troubleshooting and operation of various water supply systems.

    Thoribio Augusto, Engineering

    Thoribio brings engineering delivery expertise to ALGAESYS with his previous roles in planning, organizing, directing and controlling work, defining customer requirements, solution development, design and project management. He developed and designed the EA211 engine assembly line for Volkswagen Brasil, São Carlos plant, and also the delivery of assembly cells and machining lines for GM, Ford, BMW and Fiat.

    With 15 years of experience in production and maintenance across industries like Webasto, Siemens, Lauak, Dream Domus, and Clara-saude, Anacleto brings a wealth of knowledge to our team. As a Production Technician, he plays a key role in ensuring the efficient assembly and maintenance of our cutting-edge water recovery systems.

  • João Lopes, Mechanical Designer


    João joins us as a Mechanical Designer, where he will focus on developing 2D drawings and enhancing our water treatment stations through Autodesk Inventor. He will also take on future responsibilities in managing MS Project, helping to streamline our engineering processes.

    Holding a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, João’s experience in 3D design for dosing and analysis systems since 2021 has equipped him with the skills to support our evolving technology.

  • Jeff Atkinson, Head of Media

    After a long career in the media and education, focusing on photography, Jeff combines his love of the environment with his professional skills, acting as the head of media for Algaesys in Australia. Jeff provides us with photography, video and event support and is responsible for visually documenting every plant we implement.

  • Catarina Ferreira, Project Engineer  

    A chemical and biochemical engineer, Catarina has a wealth of experience in design, commissioning and operation of algae and biomass systems as well as organizing, planning, and coordinating.

    Her enthusiasm and energy for all things phototrophic is shared with her active engagement with youth groups in the local community.

    Catarina is whole-heartedly immersing herself in both our design-install and R&D programmes.

    Sofia Bekir Fuente, Communications & Engineering

    Urbaqua

    Sofia is an environmental engineer and science communicator, providing her the skills to both understand and promote the science behind ALGAESYS.

    Her experience at Urbaqua has exposed her to different water management strategies in a wide range of challenging environments.
