Gingin - Eco Lifestyle Villages

About the Project

Eco Lifestyle Villages is a real estate development undertaken by Sanvidel in the Shire of Gingin, Western Australia. The site is  located approximately 80 kms north of Perth, near Lancelin. ALGAESYS makes it possible for the village to recycle its water and safely reuse it for irrigation in the communal orchard and shared landscaping, reducing costs for homeowners while protecting the environment.

Given the more rural location, water accessibility and treatment can be a challenge. In Western Australia, water scarcity is a major challenge. By reusing the wastewater collected in the village, less natural resources are required for irrigation & fertilisation. Effective resource management that ALGAESYS facilitates is crucial in a drying climate.

This is the first ALGAESYS system commissioned in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere. As such, getting the system locally validated and verified in line with  Department of Health requirements was a learning  expereince. The construction of the village itself also faced difficulties, commencing in 2023, suffering from both the labour and resource shortages present in WA since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plant is now fully commissioned and has been operational since May 2026.
